Ebced, Ebced Calculation Ebced or Ebuced is a letter sequence arranged for easy memorization of the letters in the Arabic alphabet, a numerical value system corresponding to each of these letter sequences, and the name of the first of the eight words that make up the sequence. Each letter is given mathematical values from 1 to 1000. Ebced calculation was also used in calculating dates in Persian and ancient Turkish literature. For example, the word "Âherûn" was calculated from the Quran for the date of the conquest of Istanbul.
